Moving Tips
So you’ve decided to book with us at Tetris Masters Moving to help with your moving process! Before you schedule that service date, be sure to check out these helpful tips to help you prepare your space for the move. That way, once we arrive at the property, we can get started on the project…
Here are some things to remember before moving your household or commercial space:
1
Declutter Belongings
Odds are, you have items hanging around your current space that are either junk, broken, or otherwise unusable. Before we arrive, be sure to trash whatever you don’t need or want to bring to the new property for a fresh slate at the new place.
2
Update Your Address With USPS and Utility Companies
Before relocating, don’t forget to update your new address with your utility companies and the post office. Luckily, you can do most if not all of these changes online.
A good rule of thumb to remember is to schedule disconnected utilities at the old place one day after move out, and start up utilities 1-2 days prior to move-in at the new place. USPS will forward your mail from your old address anywhere from 3-6 months of your move-out date, so plan accordingly.

3
Pack/Organize Your Items Before Boxing
Some of your belongings may need special treatment, such as fragile dishware and sentimental photo albums. Try wrapping these items with bubble wrap or kraft paper for extra protection before boxing them up. If you’ve booked packing services with us, be sure to properly label these items so our crew has the heads up before we box everything for the move.
4
Plan for Transport of Pets and Plants
If you have furry friends or friendly fronds you’re bringing along for the moving trip, they’re going to need some extra care and planning ahead to ensure they make it to the new destination safe and sound.
Make sure you have a dog or cat carrier ready so Fluffy isn’t jumping all over the car during the ride! If you’re moving plants, consider grabbing an extra cardboard box or two and leaving the top open for snug placement. Wrap planters in bubble wrap or kraft paper to protect them from bumps and cracks during the moving process.

Clean Your Old Property Before Move-Out
To ensure you get the most of your security deposit, it’s good to do a deep-clean of your old place before you drop the keys off. Plus, a clean work area is always better for efficient service when our crew comes in to help you move.
